Cayman Fashion Solstice: Day 4 & 5

In case you missed what's happened so far on the Cayman Island Fashion Solstice event trip,
Cayman Fashion Solstice: Day 1
Cayman Fashion Solstice: Day 2
Cayman Fashion Solstice: Day 3

On Sunday, Day 4, of the Cayman Island fashion event trip we were supposed to have an island boat tour.
However, there was a tropical storm that made the water really rough. So we ended up not being able to go.
Instead we started out the day eating breakfast together.
From there we went on an Island bus tour.
I just want to say a big thanks to Aysha and James who were our bus tour guides. They were so fun, sweet, and welcoming.
Here's some photos from our Island tour =]

A local native

The bus tour was a lot of fun. We got to see a few neat places on this beautiful island.
After we went back to Tikki Beach for late lunch. I had the same Jerk Chicken Penne Pasta. It was just too good not to have again.
Then we all took a picture together! =]

After Tikki Beach we all went back to our hotels. They were having a going away party at Tikki Beach later that night. But I skipped out. I was in serious need of sleep, and I had school work to catch up on.

Monday morning Kacie and I got up, had breakfast and went straight to the beach.
A few of us laid out for 2 hours before it was time to pack up and head home.
It was so depressing to leave such an amazing beautiful place.
The Cayman Islands really make you love life.
I highly recommend a trip there!
<3

And on a final note I want to thank everyone who took part in this event.
A special thanks to Terry Donovan and Cindy Rosan-Jones for putting on this event and taking care of EVERY thing!
A thanks to the sweet Alva Page, Memsor Kamarake, and Carlton Jones.
To all the talented designers, your collections were amazing.
Thanks to all of the hair and make-up team. The dressers and assistant stylists.
All of the restaurants, clubs, event hosts, the Ritz (even though you kicked me off the beach! lol), the Marriott, our tour guides, and everyone else!
And of course, all the beautiful models!

Cayman Fashion Solstice: Day 3 (The Show)

Incase you missed it, get caught up,

Day 3, Saturday.
The day of the show!!

That morning it was REALLY hard to get out of bed. None of us were getting very much sleep through out the trip and it was starting to really catch up. But I some how made it to breakfast and then it was back to the Ritz for more fittings. The fitting went quickly and a few of us had some downtime before lunch. Off to the beach!!

Kacie and I headed down to the beach at the Ritz. One of the workers set up some chairs for us. When he asked our room number we explained that we were there for the fashion show. He told us that the beach was for guests only. We asked if it was okay to stay since we were there at the hotel working. He asked the manager and told us no.
So we headed to the pool instead. We grabbed two chairs and a few mins later another man came to ask us our room number. Kacie told him #513, which he informed us there was no 513. So we explained to him that we are in the fashion show and half the group is staying at the Ritz. He demanded a name and room number. We said we'd call and find out and he left us alone for a few mins while we pretended to be finding out room numbers. A few mins later he comes back by to tell us that we need a name and number or he'll have to call security.
Meanwhile, there were two other models sleeping on hammocks and another model on the beach. No one was bothering them! I was so angry! There were 200 open chairs so it's not like we were taking up chairs guests needed. We weren't drunk so it's not like we were out of control causing a scene. And I don't want to sound conceded but, we're models! Who doesn't want sexy girls lounging around by their poolside?! It makes the hotel look good. Ugh!
We decided to make it look like we were leaving and go sit by Kelly, who was on the beach. No one else bothered us for the remaining 5 mins that we were there. Then we headed off to lunch.

We had lunch at a small Caribbean buffet place.
Excellent food and amazing iced coffees.

After lunch we went back to the Ritz for hair and makeup!

Me and my dark circles from lack of sleep getting our hair done

Me getting my dark circles covered up =]

There were 10 designers showing in the event.
I walked for 9 of them, but I wore 2 outfits for 1 designer.
So in total I had 10 looks.
Super model Selita Ebanks hosted the show.

The first 5 designers showed. Then there was an intermission, a painting auction, and a performance by IYAZ. Then it was the remaining 5 designers. I had an absolute blast through out the show! It was so much fun. One of the best times I've ever had.
Here's a bunch of pictures from the show!

Ahh so many pictures!

After the show was of course, the after party.
We all piled into a limo and went to a mansion. It was a very beautiful home. We spent some time there eating, drinking, dancing. talking, and having a great time!

There's still 2 more days of Cayman fun to cover! =]

Cayman Island Fashion Solstice: Day 2

I was rencenly in the Cayman Islands for a 4 day fashion event going on there.
Incase you missed my recap of Day 1, here it is
Cayman Fashion Solstice Day 1

Day 2, Friday we got up and had breakfast at 8am.
While we were waiting for the van after breakfast to take us to our fittings, I noticed that roosters and iguanas run wild all over the island.

Once the van was loaded it was off to the Ritz for fittings.
When we got there, there was a little breakfast left. So I made myself some tea and was checking out these cookie looking things.

I picked one up and they felt slimmier than a cookie. So I thought maybe it was melty white chocolate.
I started eating it and it tasted horrible! I'm standing there about the start gagging trying to figure out what this food is.
Half way through eating it I realized what it was, it was Butter!
So GROSS!

Then we started our fittings.
Here I am trying on shoes to go with a dress by Laquan.
P.S. Please ignore my Cayman food child

For lunch we went to a place called Tikki Beach.
It was this really open tent like restaurant that was right on the beah.
I had the Jerk Chicken Penne Pasta. So good!!
After Lunch it was back to more fittings, which took up all day.

Once we finished the fittings it was off to the All White Party at Osetra Bay.
Osetra Bay is a beautiful restaurant on the water but they had it cleared out for us. It was a similar open tent type area that went into a closed off lounge area on one side and the ocean on the other.
Here's an image of the place I found online. Doesn't do it justice!

When I found out about the White party before I left NYC I was a little worried. I don't own white. I live in nyc, I wear black. Wearing all black in nyc is pretty much the law. The most white I own is socks.
But luckly a friend let me borrow a dress that worked out perfectly!

We enjoyed food, drinks, dancing, and a lot of laughs.

(Me, Rodger who was one of the designers)

(Kacie, Me)

During the White party Kacie and I were interviewed by Modelinia.
If you don't know, Modelinia is a huge fashion website. Anything and everything you'd ever want to know.
I haven't been able to find our interview so if you see it let me know!
When we returned back to the hotel there was a Sean Paul concert going on just down the street.
So we were able to fall asleep listening to his jams.

Coming up is pictures from the show!

Cayman Island Fashion Solstice: Day 1

I just got back from an amazing 5 day trip to the Cayman Islands!
I was there for the Cayman Fashion Solstice event which was a big fashion show event.
It was hosted by super model Selita Ebanks with a celebrity appearance by IYAZ.
They also flew in a bunch of models which included some of my girls from Major,

Kacie

Sarah

Kelly

They also brought in 10 amazing talented designers.
There's a lot to cover from this trip, so I'm breaking it up by day.

Day 1 Thursday I got up at 3am to be on a 6am flight. It was the bumpiest flight of my life. There was so much turbulence. A woman sitting behind me was balling her eyes out because she was scared. Here's a few images of the Cayman from the plane.

We were picked up from the airport in a limo.

(Left to Right: Katarina, Kelly, Kacie, Me, Sarah)

Then it was off to lunch. I had a pea soup and salmon. Normally I hate seafood, but all the seafood I had on this trip was delicious! Matter of fact, all the food I had was delicious!

After lunch we checked into the hotel. I roomed with Kacie. From there we went straight to the beach! We stayed at the Marriott which was RIGHT on the famous 7 mile beach. The weather was super warm and the water was even warmer. The ocean was crystal clear and bright blue.

The hotel rented out jet skis. But it was super ridiculous expensive, $75 for 30mins.
So we talked the rental guy into giving us a free 5 min "try out".

SO MUCH FUN!!!!

After the beach it was back to the room to get ready for the welcome party.
The first part of the party was at the pool patio at the Marriott.

(Me, Kacie, Kelly)

After some food and drinks we went off to a club called Enigma.
Once we got there a few of us, myself, Kacie, Kelly, and Gorgie headed to a back room for some Karaoke!

(Me, Kacie, Kelly, Gorgie, and our favorite limo driver in the back)

After a long day it was back to the Marriott for sleep.
It was really great to sleep with the balcony door open and listen to the waves.

I have 4 more days to cover. And the trip only gets better from here!
