Malan Breton

This was my 3rd season walking for Malan Breton.
Every season he has a really cool theme to his shows, and sick performances.
This season there was a Geisha theme.
With a dancer, drummers, and Asian instrumental musical performances.

Here's my outfit from the show!

Backstage shots!!!

It's a really beautiful thing when you realize that you're playing a part in making some one's dream come true.
To be part of a show that a designer has poured their soul into.
There's always a moment before his shows, that a look comes over his face that is beyond words.
That look of a dream becoming a reality.
It makes me remember why I model and why I dream.

The full collection can be seen here....

Frank Tell Fall 2011

Frank Tell was at the Box in Lincoln Center.
It was a presentation/show set up a little differently.
One by one we would walk out onto a patch of rock salt in the middle of the room. We would show our outfit and take our place along the edge of the rock salt. There we would wait until all the models were out and then together we'd exit the stage.

The clothes themselves were beautiful.
Amazing chiffon, lace, fur, and knit sweaters combined together.
I'm very excited to be getting trade from this designer.

Such a great collection!

The rest can be viewed here

Here's a video of the show! See me at "0:20"

February Wishlist / Looks

Last month I started a monthly wishlist.

However, I'm evolving this idea a little. Instead of picking individual items I'm going to put together "looks".
Items of clothing that go together to create an outfit.
All of which I would wear, and love to own.

Here's the latest from my Stylebook.

February Winter

Givenchy Over the Knee Boots
Diesel Tote bag

Alice & Olivia Fall 2011

I was thrilled to be a part of Alice & Olivia again this season!
I had so much fun at the presentation last season, and this season was even more fun.

The presentation was held at the Plaza Hotel. Which is an amazing location.
They set up different tables and platforms with tea sets and different props.
The set looked super cool.

The presentation started off a little rough for me. One of the exciting things about this season, is the launch of Alice & Olivia shoes. VERY cute. However, mine were a size too small and had a pointy toe. Making them even smaller and extremely painful. Luckily, I talked them into switching shoes for me.

Alice & Olivia really knows how to throw a party!
The presentation was on valentines day. They had an open bar and butlers walking around serving truffles, chocolate heart lollipops, and little mini cupcakes.
There was also 3 performances through out the night.
First being a burlesque dancer.

A pianist and a Dj/Violin duo.

There were a few cleberities in attendance as well. One of which was Vanessa Hudgens, who wore part of the outfit I wore last season!

All the guests seemed to have a blast, as did the models.
I can't wait to see what they do next season!

Suno Fall 2011

This season I was apart of Suno's presentation.
The presentation was held at Mac & Milk studios. Which was a very big venue for presentations this season.
They set up a stage with picture frames all along the background.
Each girl stood in a picture frame.

The clients were super nice and really easy to work for.
As a model, it makes a big difference on how you perform when clients treat you well.

The highlight of the show was when Anna Wintour showed up and checked out my outfit =]
For those who don't know, Anna Wintour is the editor of Vogue. One of the biggest names, and most influential and powerful people in fashion.

Venexiana Fall 2011

I was really excited when I found out that I was booked for Venexiana again this season!
I was apart of the show last season in sept and I had a blast!
You can read about it here.

The show was super fun again this season!
The hair was a french twist the extended up and made all the models look even taller.
As usual, the makeup was intense but beautiful. I loved it.
Here I am getting make-up done.

My outfits in the show.

The show was beautiful. So many pretty dresses.
I felt like a princess and yet again, was sad when it was over.

Some girls start planning their weddings before they even know what the word "plan" means.
I however, am not one of those. But every so often I see something and think...
I HAVE to have that at my wedding!
This was one of those instances. One of the last looks had an amazingly stunning head piece.

I HAVE to walk down the aisle with that.

Day 18: Feb 17 2011

Thursday February 17 2011
7am - 10:30pm
3 Shows

Today was the last day of Nyc fashion week!
It felt like the longest day. I had 3 shows today. I put in a 15.5 hour day!
My first show was for Malan Breton. We had a 7am call time!
The show went really well.

After that I quickly ran off to my 2nd show. Adrienne Landau.
We wore silver body suits and our fur coats.

Then I ran up to Harlem for the last show, Adrian Alicea.
I was finally finished at 1030pm.
By this time, the skin on my face hurt so bad from all the shows. As well as started breaking out.
I'll do separate write ups of each show.
as for now, I'm glad and sad that fashion week is over.

Young & Ng Fall 2011

My first show of the Fall 2011 Fashion Week was for a jewelry label named Young & NG.
The shows concept was sick! One of the coolest ideas I've been a part of.

For the show we were body painted white.
There was heavy black eye make-up and black eye shadow contouring certain muscle areas.

A few of us joked that we looked like Marilyn Manson.

The show was held at a really cool location.
The Bodies Exhibit!
For those who have never been there, its a huge exhibit of dead body parts. You can see bones, muscles, brains, blood cells, ect.

The show started with all of the models lined up and covered with capes.
One by one we revealed ourselves and walked the runway to our spots in the display.
Once we all walked we moved to a second room that was better for viewing.

I'm the first one on the left.

The show went well and everyone seemed to really love the whole idea of it.
After the show I washed the paint off in the bathroom sink of the exhibit. It took quite a few make-up remover wipes, paper towels, and team work to get cleaned up.
We also got to keep the shoes, and got our own hair comb jewelry piece!

It was a great show, a sick concept, and I can't wait to see more from this new talented designer.

Day 17: Feb 16 2011

Wednesday February 16 2011
2pm - 3pm
1 casting

Today was a very restful day. I had one casting. The rest of the day I slept and relaxed.
Later that evening Major, my agency, had an End of Fashion Week party.
It was nice to see everyone laughing and drinking.

Day 16: Feb 15 2011

Tuesday February 15 2011
1030am - 9pm
2 Castings, 1 Show

At this point I have no idea what day of the week it is. No sense of time at all.
I can't remember what I did yesterday. If you asked me to multiply by 10, I couldn't.
Its been 2 weeks straight of working. I haven't had a day off in 16 days.

Today's show was for Frank Tell at the Lincoln Center.
I loved the collection. It was really beautiful. Light chiffon, mixed with fur, lace, and rock jewelry.
I'll write more about it in another post.

Day 15: Feb 14 2011

Monday February 14 2011
1130am - 8pm
1 Castings, 2 Fittings, 1 Show

Happy Valentines Day!
I got 4 boxes of chocolate! =]

Over all the day was easy.
The show I did today was for Alice & Olivia. Whom I did last season.
It was SO much fun! They really know how to throw a party.
A more in depth description of the show, including pictures, coming soon!

Day 14: Feb 13 2011

Sunday February 13 2011
2pm - 6pm
1 Show

Today was a much easier day.
I had 1 show. It was for a new designer, Alex London.
While it got off to a rough start, the show went well.
It was a Pagan Goddess theme. With light fabrics, huge feather collars, and bone & wire jewelry.
I'm still on the search for photos from the show.
When I find them, I'll be sure to share.

Day 13: Feb 12 2011

Saturday February 12 2011
830am - 9pm
2 Jobs, 2 Castings

It was the earliest morning so far this fashion week.
At 830am I had to be at a Calvin Klein run through. For the run through me and about 7 other models were taken to where the Calvin Klein show will be this season. They wanted to time how long the show would be for sound and lighting. So we walked the runway.
While it doesn't mean we are in the show, it was still a really cool job. We got to meet several of the members of the Calvin Klein team and helped the behind the scenes of the show.

After I had 2 castings and enough time to fit in a nap!
The nap was great.
After that it was off the Mac & Milk studios, a big venue for shows, to do the Suno presentation.
Again, I'll include a bigger write up of the Suno show later on.

Day 12: Feb 11 2011

Friday February 11 2011
10am - 9pm
1 fitting, 1 show, & 5 castings

It was a busy day. Running all over the city to different places.
Castings went well. Sometimes I forgot when writing this blog, that not everyone always knows how things go or what certain terms mean. So I say castings, while many of you ask, what happens at a casting?
There's a few different things that can happen at a casting depending on what job it is for.
Since it's fashion week, we'll stick to show castings.

You arrive at the location. Sometimes there's a long wait, sometimes you're the only one.
It's good to already have your heels on. Most of the time I change from flats to heels in the lobby.
You'll meet the client and give them your portfolio, aka your book to look through.
Then they ask you to walk for them, take a picture, and sometimes try clothes on.
Then you thank them for their time, and leave without knowing if they liked you or not as clients have amazing poker faces.

After my castings and fittings it was off the Lincoln Center!
I walked for Venexiana, which I was very excited about.
I'll do a bigger write up of the show in another post.

Casting Day 11: Feb 10 2011

Thursday Feb 10 2011
11am - 8pm
2 Castings, 3 Fittings, 1 Hair Test, & Roots Touch-up

I started my day by getting my roots touched up.
After that I ran to a few castings and a fitting.
Next I had a hair test.
A hair test is when a designer is planning what hair style they want to do for the show. They will have a model come in and do that hair style on them to see if they like it, if it goes with the collection, see how long it will take, ect. For this hair test we did a simple french twist and a crimped side piece.
After the hair test I had 2 more fittings and then headed home.

When I got home I took a shower to wash all the hairspray out from the hair test.
As I was washing my hair, clumps and clumps of it were falling out.

Once it dried I started digging through to find where it was falling out from.
As I was picking through so much was still falling out. I picked up stands to try and figure out why, and they would literally crumble in my hand.
My hair was burned off from the crimping iron.
There's now a big patch on the top of my head that's about 2 inches long.
Now I look like Alfalfa from the Little Rascals.

The joys of fashion week.

Casting Day 10: Feb 9 2011

Wednesday February 9 2011
1030am - 8pm
4 Castings, 1 Job

Today I had a last minute call to work Moschino showroom. I always have fun there.
The people at Moschino are really easy to work with and I'm friends with most of the models that are there.
After showroom I quickly ran around to as many remaining castings of the day as I could.
I made it to four castings.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Casting Day 9: Feb 8 2011

Tuesday February 8 2011
10am - 9pm
5 castings, 1 show

Today was my first show of the Fall 2011 season.
It was for jewelry designer Young & Ng.
The concept was amazing. Such a cool idea and show, but I'll go into more detail in another post.
It was a long day but not too tiring.

Monday, February 7, 2011

Castings Day 8: Feb 7 2011

Monday February 7 2011
Castings: 5 castings
Start: 11am
End: 5:30pm

Sometimes castings are located close to one another and your day looks a little like...
All of the castings are located close by. Easy to go from one to the other to the next.

And other days castings look like this...
These castings are all over the map (no pun intended).
On top of being on the east side, then the west side, then North side, then south side, upside, downside, ocean floor, the moon, and candy mountain. They are also really difficult to travel to. Having to transfer to 3 different subways just to get to them.
Well today was one of those days.

Sunday, February 6, 2011

Castings Day 7: Feb 6 2011

Sunday February 6 2011
Castings: 3 castings
Start: 12pm
End: 4pm

Today was much easier. The rain was gone and it was warm. It made for a pleasant day running around the city.
Castings themselves were fairly quick. With the exception of the last one, which is notorious for being long. I was there for 1 hour waiting. Which compared to other seasons I've been there, that was quick.
Here a shot of the line.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Castings Day 6: Feb 5 2011

Saturday February 5 2011
Castings: 5 castings
Jobs: 1 Fitting
Start: 11 am
End: 6pm

Today was miserable. Not because of castings themselves but because of the weather. It was rainy and miserable. It didn't seem so bad when I left my apartment in the morning, so I didn't take an umbrella. However the misty rain builds up after walking a few blocks and soon everything was soaked.
After my day was over I headed home. It felt so great to take off the wet clothes and put on warm pj's. I made myself a hot cup of tea and crawled into bed. I was thinking about napping when I heard my email go off. Another casting. Which was located right where I just came home from and only 30 mins to get there. So I got dressed and headed back out into the rain.
As much as I hate running around like crazy, I love it every more!

Castings Day 5: Feb 4 2011

Friday February 4 2011
Castings: 7 castings & Look Book shoot
Start: 10am
End: 6:30pm

Today was an exhausting day.
I started by going to castings first thing this morning.
Which I got stuck in the elevator at.
After that I shot a look book for Sylvia Heisel. The shoot was a lot of fun. The set designs were really cool looking. We also shot a short video. I'm very excited about seeing how it turned out.
After that it was off to more castings.
One of which was Betsey Johnson. I love going to that office.
They always feed us candy =]

Thursday, February 3, 2011

Castings Day 4: Feb 3 2011

Thursday February 3 2011
Castings: 8 castings
Start: 11am
End: 4:45 pm

Today was a pretty busy day. My lunch was an Iced coffee since that's all I had time for.
It was really great seeing familiar faces again today.
Excited for tomorrow! =]

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Castings Day 3: Feb 2 2011

Wednesday February 2 2011
Castings: 2
Start: 12:30pm
End: 2pm

Today was an easy day. There were only two castings.
The weather luckily didn't bring more snow. Although the rain has made all the snow mounds melt.
Which is creating huge puddles of water. Actually, more like small ponds of water.
Which are located on every street corner and require skilled maneuvers to avoid drowning in.
Going to castings today pretty much looked like this...

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Castings Day 2: Feb 1 2011

Tuesday Feb 11 2011
Castings: 5 castings
Start time: 3pm
End: 6pm

Today was a fairly easy day. It was nice to see familiar faces. =]
